Profile
Drawn to religious life from an early age, she planned to become a Benedictine nun. However, when she left for the convent her horse refused to move. She took this as a sign, and joined the Carmelites at Parma, Italy in 1478, taking the name Archangela. Prioress at Parma and at Mantua. Had a special devotion to the Holy Trinity, and the gifts of ecstasy, levitation, and miracles.

Died:  25 January 1495 at Mantua, Italy of natural causes
Beatified:  1 October 1864 (cultus confirmed) by Pope Pius X

Father in heaven, you gave the virgin Blessed Archangela Girlani particular dedication to the mystery of the eternal Trinity. Through her prayers may we taste the delights of your glory already here on earth, and look upon you for ever in heaven. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
