The Samaritan House provides direct assistance to the homeless, hungry, jobless and other persons in need living in our Parish area. The Samaritan House is sponsored by St. John’s. Clients are assisted by volunteers who help sort food in the Food Pantry and other areas of outreach.
Our mission is to assist residents who reside in our church boundary area who find themselves in an emergency situation with financial assistance for rent or utilities as well as ensure they have food for their families.
What We Do:
Provide payment directly to a utility company or landlord that allows the utility to be kept on or ensure that they won't have an eviction. We also provide food so that families will not go hungry.
Time & Training Required:
The Samaritan House is open Monday – Friday,
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Because of our high demand, volunteers should be willing to make a one-year commitment to a specific weekday each week, and plan to spend the spend three hours we are open with us.

Office volunteers must have the ability to talk with people, find out their needs, their ability to help themselves and to determine how we'll be able to assist them. Volunteers should be able to lift approx. 10 lbs., as many of our clients need assistance getting their groceries to their car. There is also bending and lifting in the food pantry to restock the shelves.
