Altar Servers
Their
responsibility is to help free the presider from various details
so he may give full attention to presiding. The various
tasks include: assisting with the book of prayers
(sacramentary), helping set the altar table with the bread and
wine, setting the plates and cups aside after communion.
After Mass, make sure they are clean, take care of the candles,
incense, and processional cross.

Art and Environment
Ministers
Volunteers
who seek for ways in which color, texture, shape and objects can
provide an environment that is beautiful and that points beyond
to the awe and wonder of the spiritual essence. Their task
is to help create a space for liturgical action which is both
appropriate and of high quality.

Communion
Ministers
Instructions
Men and
women who serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and other
liturgical services where Communion is received. Communion
ministers must be in full communion with the
sacraments of the Church and are appointed by the Archbishop.

Greeters
Greeters
welcome people as they gather for Mass. They take the
gifts forward at the Presentation of Gifts, make and serve
refreshments after Mass, and assist those with special needs.

Lectors and
Commentators
Adults and
high school youth proclaim God's word to the assembly at Mass
and other liturgical celebrations. Commentators provide
words of welcome, announce the hymns, give the intercessory
prayers and give information regarding parish events.

Sacristan
The duty
of Sacristan is to prepare the vessels and linens before Mass
and Baptisms and when necessary, open the church doors, turn on
lights and air conditioning, and lock the church after evening
Masses.

Ushers
The
Usher's ministry is to greet people warmly, introduce strangers,
help people sit together, pass out hymnals when necessary, care
for any needs (if someone gets sick or other emergencies), take
up the collection, help with good order at Communion, and
distribute Bulletins in the course of saying goodbye to everyone
and direct people to coffee in the Commons.

Adult Choir
St. John's
Choir meets on Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:00 pm or Sunday at 4:30
pm; members attend the Mass of their choice.
Instrumentalists and vocalists prepare for the Christmas Eve
Masses and extra music for Holy Week and Easter. To sing
in the choir, it is not necessary to be able to read music, but
to sing on pitch, blend with the group, and convey a sense
of prayer in song. The Director also coordinates wedding
and funeral music.

Youth Choir
High
school students sing at Sunday evening Mass. Rehearsals
are held Sunday, 4:45 pm, prior to the 5:30 pm Mass.
