Liturgical Ministries

Altar Servers

Their responsibility is to help free the presider from various details so he may give full attention to presiding.  The various tasks include:  assisting with the book of prayers (sacramentary), helping set the altar table with the bread and wine, setting the plates and cups aside after communion.  After Mass, make sure they are clean, take care of the candles, incense, and processional cross.

Contact:  Dean Hoffhines, 285-8432

Art and Environment Ministers

Volunteers who seek for ways in which color, texture, shape and objects can provide an environment that is beautiful and that points beyond to the awe and wonder of the spiritual essence.  Their task is to help create a space for liturgical action which is both appropriate and of high quality.

Adult Choir

St. John's Choir meets on Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:00 pm or Sunday at 4:30 pm; members attend the Mass of their choice.  Instrumentalists and vocalists prepare for the Christmas Eve Masses and extra music for Holy Week and Easter.  To sing in the choir, it is not necessary to be able to read music, but to sing on pitch, blend with the  group, and convey a sense of prayer in song.  The Director also coordinates wedding and funeral music.
