Did you know?  Our parish has an active Communion to the Shut-Ins ministry.  If you have a loved one that is homebound, or a resident at an assisted living center or nursing home, or in the hospital, we have wonderful, caring Eucharist ministers who will bring them Communion - generally each week.  Just phone the parish office during the week at 340-0691 and let them know.

Health Tips and Topics

Have you had your flu shot yet?  Flu season lasts from December through April, there's still time to be immunized.  Health officials encourage flu shots to those over 50, health care workers, and those at risk from complications to the flu.  They also recommend that children between 6 and 23 months receive the immunization (consult your Pediatrician to discuss this).  Persons who should not be vaccinated are those with allergic reactions to chicken eggs.  A one-time pneumonia vaccine is also recommended for people over 65, or those who have heart, lung, or diabetic problems.  Available immunization sites include:

  • Visiting Nurse Association (OKC) 848-9539

  • Oklahoma City County Health Dept (OKC) 425-4450

  • Sherry's Drug (Edmond) 341-1683

Attention Caregivers

Catholic Charities' Senior Adult Ministry coordinator is preparing a comprehensive Caregivers List for the Archdiocese.  If you are willing and/or trained to go to a person's home or other place of residence to assist them with activities of daily living, please contact Mel Roberts at 405-523-3009 or 1-800-375-8514 if you live outside the metropolitan area.  You may wish to volunteer your time, or receive a fee for this service.  If you are already a caregiver or know someone who would be interested in being one, please call Mel Roberts.

As a Community of Faith we sense the need to reach out to our senior members.  We visit the sick and shut ins with both friendship and the Holy Eucharist each week.
