Before Mass, check to see that:
-
There are hosts on the table (near the outside door)
for people to place on the paten. One large host should be placed on
the paten.
-
The glass cruets of water and wine have been removed
from the refrigerator, filled, and put on the table.
-
The two candles on the altar are lit.
After the priest consumes the Sacred Host, any two
volunteer extraordinary ministers go to opposite sides of the altar.
After the priest consumes the Precious Blood, he will distribute Holy
Communion to you. After having received Holy Communion, go to the far
side of the raised sanctuary nearest you. When finished distributing
the Precious Blood, consume any that remains and return to the altar.
The next step depends on the which priest celebrates
Mass. Place your chalice and purificator either on the credence table
(behind the ambo) or on the corporal on the altar. If in the credence
table, cover the chalice with the purificator and return to your seat,
reverencing the altar with a bow. If on the altar, one of the
extraordinary ministers should pour water from the cruet into one or both
chalices (the priest will direct you), replace the cruet in its holder, and
return to your seat, reverencing the altar with a bow.
After Mass, if the sacred vessels were not purified by
the priest, purify them at the credence table. Return the paten,
chalices, sacramentary, corporal, and soiled purificators to the cupboard
under the table (near the outside door). Place soiled linens in the
container on the bottom shelf. Replace the glass cruets in the
refrigerator in the Minister's Room. Turn off the lights and see that
the outside door is closed. |
