Baptism for Infants

Do you wish for your child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism?

  • Parent Requirements

To have a child baptized at St. John the Baptist, you need to be registered in the parish, regularly attend Mass, and complete one of the available options of baptism preparation. If you have already completed baptism preparation, you need not repeat the process.

If you have not, you may register for an upcoming class below. This is a 2-hour class held from 10 am to 12 pm on a Saturday (box lunch provided).

If you are unable to attend or if there is not a class prior to the requested date you may choose our online video preparation option.

To utilize the preparation videos please follow the following steps:

    1. Go to formed.org

    2. Choose “I belong to a Parish or Organization”

    3. Enter: St John Edmond (choose the St. John the Baptist 900 S Little Edmond OK option from the list).

    4. Enter Name and Email address to create an account.

    5. Type the word Reborn in the search box located in the top right hand corner of your screen.

    6. Complete all videos (there are six).

    7. Sign and return the Baptism Video Participation form.

You will need to return the following forms:

It will be your responsibility to forward the godparent information to your chosen godparents.

  • Godparent Requirements

To be a godparent you must first meet the following:

    • Be 18 years of age or older
    • Two godparents are strongly encouraged; in the event two godparents are not available, we prefer they share the same gender as the child.
    • One godparent must be a practicing Catholic (received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist)

Once the initial requirements have been met, godparents will need to provide the following based on their individual circumstances:

    • Both godparents are required to complete baptism preparation, and proof of completion of baptismal preparation class(es)/videos will need to be provided unless the class was taken at St. John the Baptist. (Video access is outlined in the Parent Requirement instructions and the video completion statement for Godparents must be submitted.)
    • Letter of Good Standing referencing their role as godparent; this is only required from those registered in parishes other than St. John the Baptist.
    • Mass Attendance Form ; required from those registered at St. John the Baptist.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Your child's baptism date will not be confirmed unless all the above requirements have been met.
